This Chinese New Year my mom and I stayed in Vietnam, like last year. The only difference is we were to scared to go out and stay in the city. So, for the whole long holiday, we stayed at home. Only on the last day, we went to the city for shopping and having a brunch.
Mekong Merchant Saigon is today’s brunch place since my mom wanted English breakfast. And also my sister recommended their pancake. We ordered a plate of English breakfast(it comes with crossiant and bread), shakshuka for me, a seared-tuna salad, banana pancake and juice.

Within all dishes, my favorite one is the seared-tuna salad. The tuna doesn’t have any raw taste because it was marinated, even my mom loves it. It was a good refreshing dish for a hot summer day. The banana pancake and other two main dishes are okay, nothing special or unique, like traditional one. The croissant was not so good according to my mom, but they have a wide variety of jam selection, which was pretty amazing!
This brunch place is open-space and quite chilling, more like beach-style. It is not hot even if we were not in air-con room. Their dishes are not so carefully plated like other Vietnamese-style brunch places. This is okay for me though, after all, the taste of the food is more important. I would like to come back for that tuna salad and probably other main dishes like hamburgers, but not for the brunch plates. Okay! Get the tummy filled up and start shopping!
